This program focuses on the unlikely Republican nominee for President in 1860 and his remarkable ability to build a strong coalition from among his rivals and ultimately restore a war-torn nation. Spanning 1861-1865, the Abraham Lincoln Leadership Experience explores the decisions and strategies of the 16th President as he led throughout the Civil War and took steps to abolish slavery and preserve the union.
